Introduction to Exercise Support Group

Discover your Inner Superhero

  • Thought about exercising, but don't know how to start?
  • Seeking motivation?
  • Uncomfortable in traditional fitness environments?
  • Want nonjudgmental support?

This is the group for you! Receive individual support in setting a personal fitness goal such as walking or running a 5k, completing a triathlon or hiking Mount Si. Together, we'll explore barriers to exercise and implement solutions to help you meet your goal. Note: This group will not focus on weight or weight-loss, but on finding the joy of movement with the bodies we have.

Support group includes:

  • Individual Goal-Setting Consultation
  • 6 weekly support group sessions (including talking components and beginning exercise components customized for group members)
  • 2 Saturday Workouts with Holistic Fitness Coach, Rachel Carey DeBusk
  • Optional excursions such as snowshoeing
  • Resources, camaraderie, and fun!

About Corrina

My inner superhero was a triathlete long before I thought it was possible to enter a triathlon. As a Therapist, I know the benefits of exercise for alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety, and for living a fuller, healthier life. I am also well acquainted with the many challenges and barriers to exercise. I've struggled to stay active, often battling long periods of inactivity and a lack of motivation. Setting goals and surrounding myself with support have been the most important components of letting my inner superhero emerge. When I was 30 years old, I completed my first sprint distance triathlon, and went on to do several other events. For my 40th birthday, I completed a half-Ironman triathlon. I was the last person to cross the finish line, but I felt like a gold medalist.

I am currently emerging from a period of less activity, and calling on my inner triathlete to set her next goal. She says, "I want to run 5k with a group of emerging superheros walking and running their first race." I look forward to meeting your inner superhero and discovering what her/his goal is. Maybe you want to join me in a 5k this winter?
